Guidelines for Corporate Membership

English is now an important language in Asian countries both domestically and internationally. For Japanese people as well, English is currently used more with other people of Asia than with American or British people. As Japan increases opportunities to communicate with other Asian countries through business, development cooperation, sightseeing, studying abroad, etc., it will become more and more necessary to fully consider the problem of communication using English in Asia. The Japanese Association for Asian Englishes was established in 1997 in order to pursue this problem. Because this topic is a priority research theme not only in academic and educational circles but also for business and industry, the membership of the association includes a wide range of members from various fields. These include regular and student members, and we have recently introduced a Corporate membership category for corporations. With this introduction to corporate membership status, we sincerely hope that you will take this opportunity to join and work in cooperation with our society for its future development. Corporate membership annual fee: 30,000 yen Membership includes eligibility for three persons to attend national conferences, etc. from one organization, as well as three copies of bulletins, newsletters, etc. Symposia with relevant themes such as "English business in Asia" and "Asian Englishes and ODA/NGOs" will also be planned.
